Skybound Spey Rod

Maxcatch Skybound Spey Series — Premium Two-Handed Fly Rods

Built for dedicated two-handed anglers, the Maxcatch Skybound Spey Series combines premium components with a moderate-fast action for powerful, efficient Spey casting. Whether you’re swinging flies for salmon and steelhead or covering distant holding water, Skybound rods deliver responsive recovery, controlled presentations, and confident line handling.

Premium Components

• AAA+ cork grips: Premium cork provides a comfortable grip for long days on the water.

• Black-and-gold hard-anodized reel seat: A durable, corrosion-resistant finish with a refined appearance.

• PVD-coated stainless steel snake guides: Durable guides designed to resist wear and corrosion while allowing smooth line passage.

• MaxSelect PacBay Minima stripping guides: Lightweight stripping guides help reduce friction for smooth shooting and efficient line management.

Moderate-Fast Action and Responsive Recovery

The Skybound’s moderate-fast action balances power and feel, helping anglers lift line, form controlled loops, and deliver flies at distance.

Its responsive taper promotes quick recovery after the casting stroke for crisp tracking and efficient energy transfer.

A downlocking reel seat positions the reel closer to the butt of the rod to help balance the outfit and reduce fatigue during extended fishing sessions.

Purpose-Built for Spey Casting

• Three grip configurations: Model-specific upper and lower grip layouts accommodate different casting preferences.

• Oversized tip-top: Provides additional clearance for shooting-head connections and smooth running-line passage.

Travel and Protection

Each rod features four-piece construction for convenient packing and transport. A navy rod tube with a plastic-reinforced cap protects the rod in transit, while a four-compartment rod sock keeps the sections separated and organized.
